      Historical Context
              As a boy growing up in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Armand Merizon was possessed by a wandering spirit, and resisted the confinement of his early years among his family of strict Dutch immigrants. He lived through the Great Depression, joined the military during World War II, and studied art in New York and Europe. He was a visionary who experienced the world at-large to be both his most suited classroom and greatest teacher. 
          Description
              Colorful landscape of a canyon like area. Canyons and ridges are dark, in shades of purple, grey,black and small areas of pink and red. Sky has lots of horizontal lines with shades of blue and grey. Center of the canyon, near the center of the image, is bright yellows and oranges.
